In the business world today, increasing profit is akin to the oxygen we as human beings breathe in to stay alive. If you can’t come up with ways to increase your profit margin then you need to rethink your business strategy and marketing policies. Sales is the lifeblood of every business. Once you can generate sales at will be able to succeed in business.

SMS Marketing is a very good, viable and tested marketing strategy in helping every wise and interested business owner “breathe in more oxygen”, more blood into his hustle and move his/her business to the next level. -The profitable level.

Just in case you don’t know, SMS marketing (short message service marketing) is a technique that uses permission-based text messaging to spread promotional messages. A lot of Nigerian businesses have adopted it and use it to communicate regularly with customers and staffs alike.

First create a subscription opt-in list for your customer database.

To create this list is easy, if you use an SMS lead generation or opt-in system to receive text message specials, new product updates or more information, customers are usually required to opt in to an automated system  by texting an initial keyword to a short code or longcode number. When the keyword or code is texted, the user’s phone number is then stored by whatever SMS marketing software is issuing the texts. A confirmation response is usually sent as receipt for opting in, with an opt-out code included for potential future unsubscribing.

There are several ways in which a business owner can optimize and take advantage of this list. This is a simple yet extremely effective marketing strategy called SMS Marketing

Here are the strategies you can use to get customers or users opt-in in  to your lists.

  • Make Them an Offer They Can’t Refuse:

No one wants to “receive mobile offers.” “That’s a very standard and ordinary text messaging call-to-action,”  You need to make your call to action very attractive. Without an attractive call-to-action, customers aren’t going to give up their phone numbers.

So how can one convince them to opt-in? Well you could;

  •  Do a service for them

Create a compelling offer.

“You’ve got to give them something,”. It could be a coupon code, but with today’s smartphones, there are a lot of possibilities.

For instance, let’s say you run a dry cleaning Service site, and you want people to sign up for your weekly text message fashion/cloth crae tips. “You could offer a special video on how to take care of jeans for people who sign up,” and include a link to a video in the first message. That way, you’ll get people subscribing for your opt in lists.
